We Suck Fansubs

If you have been an anime fan for a while – you know about the fan clubs out there. They often are the only legit lay to get your anime if you live outside of Japan. While I was watching Loveless, I noticed the web address of the fan club who have translated the series and made them available on the net. Went there and not to surprise me we suck, turn out to be one of the greatest fan clubs there – which can be seen from the quality of their releases too. They do have a bit torrent site , which I guess will be the better solution – compared with e-mule, which works as well , but sometimes you can get confused with all the titles there. I got few of the loveless series with Spanish subs , which doesn’t not work for me ( not yet )

There are quite a few good anime blogs, trough sometimes it is kind of hard to stumble upon them because of all that trash that lays out there on the Internet. What I found today was this cool list of anime titles on the qem_chibati pages at Live Journal.

And sometimes you do want to know more about your new hentai discovery before spending several hours of downloading it (or purchasing it – if that is what you prefer).

Hentai Neko is definitely the site to go – the sait claims to have “over 450 pages of hentai reviews, shopping guides, fan fics, articles and more” and it does. I have never seen that good reviews related to Hentai.

“LETS MAKE MEMORIES”

Few days ago I saw the first episode of Loveless.

Quite an interesting series - I liked it a lot.

It is a bit confusing at first , there is that boy Ritsuka who is quite an interesting lad. There is a lot of anger in him and you can most definitely feel it while watching the anime. However who could blame him since there is that girl in the first episode that likes him and kind of follows him around. She is really annoying trough in a way I feel bad for her because of the way her friends threat her.

There are nice done fight scenes which I think do not feel quite well in the overall atmosphere but still worth watching. Here is what I found about them in Wikipedia :

The fighting style in the anime is also unique; fighting can only occur between couples (with a few exceptions), where the one is the Sacrifice, who receives all damage, and the other the Fighter, who attempts to attack the enemy couple.

The best site of the series I was able to find out is FATE. It has everything – from photos to character profiles and much more.

DEADFROG torrents status

I have received a comment about the current status of the Dead Frog Torrents Website. According to it the web site has been shut down for piracy – now if that was true – this would become a really, really bad news. However you don’t have to worry as the Dead Frog servers are down only for a major update. Notice the PS in the down left corner – saying: just kidding and on the right side it says when it would re- open. Here is what Token says in the forum:

Well, if you're here, you obviously think the site is shut down..

It's not, it's just down for very massive upgrades.

Anyways, I have some excellent news, and no, it has nothing to do with saving money on car insurance. Deadfrog v3 is on the way! Not only are we completely redesigning and rebuilding the site, but we're building it on a new OS. Think along the lines of torrent stats, user control panel with torrent entry info and whatnot. None of your usernames or passwords will be lost, and all entries will remain. This is a large upgrade, it may take some time to get used to, but I think you'lll love it. Also, notice the tracker has been sluggish lately? This will be fixed also. Taking the site offline was necessary.

The announce URL http://tracker2.deadfrog.info:42426/announce is active. While there aren't categories here, you can post torrents here for the time being.

In case you don't know, Deadfrog is the #1 anime tracker on the interweb. Not only as a figure of speech, but statistically too. With over 200,000 peers during normal hours, we really need to make sure we have room to expand in the future. We were stuck at a brick wall, doing this was the only way to break past. After the upgrade is complete, Deadfrog will have the room to expand 4x of our current limit. The server was running over capacity, and we need to make sure to address this. I'm getting tired of stupid band-aids and workarounds, we need to fix the site right so Deadfrog can continue to grow, taking the site down for a week is the only way. Deadfrog returns Friday, August 19, 2005. Look forward to it

Looking for fine quality anime wallpapers, may be for some other type of art as well?!

OneChan.net is the site for you. The site had two language versions – German and English. It consist of few different kind of boards:

1. Main-Boards:
· /a/ - Anime – many general anime pictures are posted in here. As of this moment most of the pictures are of beautiful girls, but there are few exceptions of course.
· /b/ - Random – different kind of funny pictures, which definitely have nothing to do with the anime art
· /c/ - Anime Cute –Girls, girls, girls – I really don’t see why this is a separate board – it content would perfectly fit into the first board I mentioned above.
· /e/ - Ecchi – Girls again, but this type in seductive poses. Still the content is PG 13 as the images are very mild.
· /h/ - Hentai – R rating – that is for sure. Pure Hentai art.
· /s/ - Sexy Women – another non-anime board. Full of girls who someone finds as sexy – there are few cute ones I have to agree, but overall nothing special.
· /v/ - Video Games – Screen shots from Video Games, pretty much a way for you to choose your next n one
· /w/ - Anime Wallpapers – the title is self-explanatory. The wallpapers I published before in this blog were taken from here.

2. Sub-Boards:
· /cm/ - Cute Male – this is still a small board consisting just 2 pages by the time I write this entry. There is some yaoi in it and some general images as well.
· /d/ - Alternative – monsters with girls, boys …etc. Its fantasy right – so R rating would be too severe, but still don’t go to this site if you are not prepared for what is in there to see
· /f/ - Furry – hybrids of human and animals, or human and aliens. Pretty freaky one could say – and he might be right , but after all the bunny girls/boys series are great…so check out this board if you feel like it.
· /n/ - Neko – another small board for all of you who like cat girls
· /su/ - Succubus – Daemon girls, seductive and scary at the same time
· /y/ - Yuri – very small board with art of girls who like other girls. R rating I must add.
· /ya/ - yaoi- tiny board with mixed contents. As far as I know it is supposed to be for boys who like other boys, but the posted images are mixed. As the previous -R rating for that one as well

3. Trial-Boards:
· /gif/ - Animated Gifs – anime and non-anime.
· /z/ - Destruction- mostly car crashes photos
4. Special-Boards:
· /flash/ - Flash- all kinds of various swf flash files. There are some anime ones, some funny ones – even games.
· /logo/ - Logos –
· /o/ - Oekaki – user drawn graphics. Have a scanner – send yours in.
· /t/ - Torrents- few Hentai games I see in this board. I guess it will be growing in the near future.

Those were the places at OneChan I find interesting. There are few other sections as well, but I won’t be discussing them in this post.

Just watched one of the most amazing anime music videos I could imagine. Its name is My Evil Alien and it is a production of the Aquiline Studios. It includes scenes of the anime Fooly Cooly and the soundtrack is of the song My Immortal by Evanescence. The only thing I sorry for is that I wasn’t be able to download the 30 MB version and got 12 MB one – which is good enough to me, but knowing that it could be much better – gee I want it madly. I really enjoy watching anime music videos. Before when I was into techno music – it was so cool when you dance and the club is showing some nice made anime to go with the music. Later on I saw some anime music videos in other genres and liked them as well. Few minutes ago I stumbled upon a web site, which claims to have 34034 locally hosted videos available for, download. Learning how to draw

Looking at anime pictures in nice, but always there come a moment in which you want to draw your own ones. Having experience in drawing could help, but it is not absolute requirement as there are many sources of information that can be useful to you. I asked at Gaia for help on that matter and here are the summarized results:

It would be good idea to go to your favorite site and try to copy some of the artwork in there. Baka Neko is one of the best sites that could be of a great help to anyone – it is loaded with great tutorials and even have superb gallery from which you can choose something to work on.

Other great place to start is the website of Polykarbon.It is also very nicely made with tutorials that can be used even from absolute beginners.

There are the two sites I recommend. Other than that visiting .this web site you will be able to find many other links to good tutorials and other resources.

I just started drawing myself and as soon as I get a scanner I will upload some of the things I made. If you send me your artworks I would be glad to publish them as well.

Just recently I have heard about this specific genre for a very first time. I had the chance to hear some staff and gosh did I like it. ! It is generally hard to find a recent source of media out there. But here is what I just found:

Level Outer Space

The Level Outer space series are so cool. I just found a web site with about 100 great pictures. There is something in the way they are drawn – I am not sure what – I guess the colors, combined with that unique style. The eyes are drawn big as it is a common in the Japanese illustrations and I am guessing that most of the art is of Digimon Style.

I was browsing a picture board looking for new wallpapers for my desktop. Suddenly I noticed the link home at the top at the page. I trough, hmm if there is a home page may be this board would be a part of something bigger – like a community or something. Did it – clicked on that link and…was I right or was I right - IICHAN v3.0 come to view.

Now I can that this is one of the most complete anime portals I have seen. Everything is build upon a bulletin board structure – but of a different kind. Here is what the board owner has to say about the kind software he developed for his boards:

What a day – browsing various anime sites for like what 10 hours – or more…

One of the good places I found has a cool test. I took it and according to the results :

Sailor Moon (Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn)

Back to the classic works with the series Sailor Moon. The web is full with information and media about this series, trough as usual a lot is clustered with tones of advertisements. I decided to make this a separate post rather than just including it in the links section, as I will be adding more resources to it later on. For illustration I will use a photo of a Sailor Moon Figure that is currently on the Japanese Market.

I decide to start posting the links to the sites I have been to with a little bit of commentary for every one of them.

1. Torajima's works - plenty of good pictures. The site has 3 main sections: Torajima's works, Syaoran and Sakura's room and The Guest Galleries. Most of the images are of the genre giant kid. Here are few examples of what this would mean:

Anime Action Figure

You may have thought that comic books, films, printed posters and games are the only way to enjoy the anime art. I know that I thought so until I find a web site in which they had several prototypes of an action figure if that is the right way to call it.

Again as usual the site is written entirely in Japanese, which is why as I mentioned in my yesterday’s entry I will give you the links to the pages being translated by babelfish. You will be able to see how such an art is designed.

Trough I have always liked anime – I started just recently reading more about the various genres. One can say that I am still educating myself and while doing that I will be glad to share my experience and troughs with you.

I guess being mostly interested in Hentai – it will become the first base of my journey in the world of anime.

Language Problem

Many anime sites you will find out there will have somewhere a label which will say something like: “This site is Japanese only “ As I have read in one other blog on the net since the Internet is global, it's not possible to make a site just for the citizens of one country. Yet some Anime sites try to keep global visitors out by writing Japanese instructions for putting together the address of the site. A simpler trick is to just write all the text links in Japanese. Often you can float over a foreign language link and see that it goes to "gallery.html" - the file names on the server are still in English.

AltaVista Babel Fish Translation can help you with machine translation from Japanese to English...etc. The text Babel Fish generates sounds like insane haiku, but at least lets you guess what it's about.

Crow`s Images - A state of Art

Luckily I found a site worth mentioning today. It contains some original drawings by CROW some of which I will publish below. The site hasn’t been updated since 2001, which is a shame as my honest opinion is that the quality of the pictures there is worth maintaining it.

Below you can see few examples of the work of CROW:

The first picture Monkey Magic could easily be a screen shot of an adventurous animated movie. Do pay attention to the writings on the drawing.The second Summer Days reminds me so much of the sea and the friend of mine I spend the most wonderful vacation last summer.

Winter emotions are presented as well in the artwork of CROW. The following picture amazes me with the softness of its tones contrasting with its dark background.Andl ast but not least “ Downtown boy “ with a wonderful quote on it.

Of course there are many other pictures of Crow and if you liked what you saw I am sure that they could be easily found.
